Die fast senkrecht stehende Plattenauflage kann mühelos auf und ab bewegt werden, so dass sich der zu prüfende Teil einer Offsetplatte immer auf Augenhöhe befindet. Eine flache Auflageschiene ermöglicht eine exakte Führung der Hand und gibt Sicherheit, besonders bei diffizilen Korrekturen. Der zu prüfende waagrechte Streifen einer Offsetplatte wird von oben und unten reflexfrei ausgeleuchtet. Zusätzlich gewährleistet eine Großfeldlupe, welche waagrecht über die gesamte Arbeitsbreite gefahren werden kann, das Auffinden selbst winziger Fehler. Zur systematischen Prüfung sind in der verschiebbaren Plattenauflage Markierungen angebracht, deren Abstand mit der Breite des Korrekturfeldes zwischen den Lampen übereinstimmt. Verschiebt man die Auflagenfläche um jeweils ein Feld, kann die Offsetplatte Streifen für Streifen kontrolliert und, wo nötig, korrigiert werden.
